IRS Crypto Division Head Trish Turner Resigns After 3 Months, Joins Private Sector
Trish Turner, the executive leading the IRS's cryptocurrency division, has resigned after just three months in the role. Her departure marks another leadership change for the agency's digital assets unit as it struggles to establish regulatory frameworks for crypto taxation.
Turner announced her exit via LinkedIn, ending a 20-year tenure with the tax agency. During her brief leadership, she contributed to developing the IRS's digital asset strategy amid cryptocurrencies' transition from niche investments to mainstream financial instruments.
The former IRS executive is joining crypto tax firm Crypto Tax Girl as tax director. Founder Laura Walter confirmed the move, citing Turner's expertise as critical for navigating upcoming crypto tax and compliance changes. Turner plans to continue working on digital asset tax issues while bridging connections between industry participants and regulators.
